Another example of “your good eye” Susan. If it was still Winter I’d believe you were on some warm Island hidden among the palm trees.

I was hoping you’d tell us what they were because I don’t know either, but they’re pretty:-)

    Interesting sprouts there!

Love how you’ve captured the first bits of green sprouts shooting up from the earth. Your images are beautiful.
Amazing to me how similar the changing landscape and seasons are in Michigan to what we have here in Massachusetts.

Thanks for stopping by my blog. Feedback and comments are much appreciated.

My first thought, you had a grow-op going in the forest! *wink* But seriously, lovely to see new life springing literally to life.

I hope they’re legal. Just kidding, love the green tones and the contrasts here. Nice angle with this shot and very nice composition.

hey susan nice shot. They are mayapples sprouting . They will split into to 2 leafs per plant and where the leaves come together a flower will apear and then turn into a mayapple.

As Joe writes, these are May Apples or Mandrake (Podophyllum peltatum) a native growoing in woods. Look for the single flower underneath the large leaves when they spread out. The flowers don’t last long.

Like miniature umbrellas, waiting for Susan’s lens to arrive. I love closeups, and love the challenge of finding unusual plants in nature like this. Nice work!
